October 30 - Micah Celebration- 2:30-5:30 - Congratulations Barbara! There is one more Micah Ticket available for anyone who would like to come celebrate with Barb Coulter and the other Micah Heroes on Sunday, 30th, 2:30-5:30. Please contact Holly Hall before Sunday if you would like to join this UVIP Upper Valley celebration. As of Tuesday evening, 224 Micah tickets have been sold throughout the Upper Valley and 193 people plan to attend the 2016 Micah Celebration Sunday afternoon.

A note about our worship – We are currently experimenting with a new form of liturgy where lay leaders begin our worship. This is being done in an effort to share leadership within our parish and to allow lay participation at a higher level. This form of worship is on trial from October 9 – November 20 at which time we will have a brief review of it. This is new to all of us, so please be patient as we ‘tweak’ it, as we hear back from you. Remember, without change we don’t grow, and if we don’t grow we can’t blossom and become who God is calling us to be. Thank you, Scott, The Worship Team and the Vestry.

Prayers of the People Reminder – This is the last Sunday of the month and the list of names in our Prayers of the People will be deleted and we will start fresh next month. Please submit your prayers requests throughout the month and they will be added to our list on a weekly basis. Please send those requests to Holly Hall or announcements.spc@gmail.com . Please remember at the end of the month to resubmit any names on your prayer list to Holly Hall so that they are included in the next month’s prayers. Thank you, Scott.
Parish Discretionary Fund next week – November 6 – On the first Sunday of each month the loose offering and any checks marked discretionary fund in the memo is given to the Parish Discretionary Fund. This fund is used to help meet the needs of people in our area during difficult times in their lives. The funds are generally used to help with electric bills or car repairs, rent or securing a security deposit for a family. We are finally able to start distributing funds again. The need continues to be extremely high with requests coming in almost every day. Please be as generous as you are able. This is an important ministry of our Parish. Thank you, Scott
A reminder on Faithful Voting
Faith informs our values, sense of purpose, and hope that God’s realm will grow upon earth. One of the key ways that we bring those values and the voice of faith to the national ‘table’ is by taking our faith into the voting booth and voting! Both Vermont and New Hampshire have voter turnout better than the national average. In 2012 voter turnout was about 58% nationally, 70.2% in New Hampshire, and 60.7 in Vermont. Wouldn’t it be great if St. Paul’s participation was better than that!
We can’t know the exact figure, but we can have a pretty good idea if each of our voting eligible members fills out a “Pledge to Vote” card provided by the United Valley Interfaith Project (UVIP). Thanks, Scott and the UVIP team
Coming in Advent – in response to suggestions made at the quarterly meeting on October 16, beginning in Advent we will have a Five Minutes of Ministry presentation during our Sunday worship from each of the committees and groups in the parish. In addition during coffee hour, members of that group will be available to answer questions and provide more information regarding their group. These will be done on a weekly basis until all groups have had the opportunity to present and then we will have a monthly presentation by each group so they have an opportunity to report back the work they are currently doing.

November 1 – Feast of All Saints’ – Holy Eucharist at 6:00 PM in the sanctuary. Spoken worship with scripture, reflection and communion. All are Welcome!
November 2 - Quiet Contemplative Prayer Group – This will be a time for prayer and meditation in the church sanctuary on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month from 5:30-6:30. Our first gathering will be Wednesday, November 2nd. This will be a quiet time to pray and meditate for ourselves, our fellow parishioners, friends, neighbors, our community and world around us. All are welcome. If you have questions, please contact Holly and Diana.
Novemebr 10 - Caring Ministry Meeting -Our meeting has been changed from November 15 to November 10 at 7 PM in the church library. We look forward to seeing everyone who is participating with Caring Ministries. All are welcome!
November 12 – Holiday Bazaar – Saturday, 9 AM to 3 PM
St. Paul’s Holiday Bazaar is just a few weeks away! It is time to work together to make this year’s Bazaar as success! How can you help? We are looking for all kinds of jewelry, handmade items, as well as gifts items (perhaps you have a gift item to re-gift), white elephant items, any old or new Christmas decorations for home or the tree. Please bring all these items on November 2 or ASAP after that date. Please everyone (men and children included) put on your aprons and bake or make goodies for the Food Sale (pies, bread, cookies, fudge, candy, pickles, baked beans, bars, Rice Krispy treats, sauces, etc.) After church on November 6, we will move all the Bazaar things from the parish house basement to the parish hall. This will include boxes, bins, tables, etc., so we will need lots of help! You are invited to help sort, price and display items throughout the week following November 6. November 14 - Bible Study – Our next gathering is Monday, November 14, at 7 PM in the Parish House. Our discussions last about an hour. Each session is stand-alone so come when you can. All are welcome! Here are the readings we will be discussing: Jeremiah 23:1-6, Colossians 1:11-20 , and Luke 23:33-43. We meet on the 2nd and 4th Monday of the month.
November 17 - Knit and Purl Fellowship - will meet next 10/17, 6:30. We are doing any kind of hand craft and making creations to sell for upcoming Holiday Bazaar, November 12th. Please come join us and share your ideas.
November 21 - Listen Community Dinner - Our last Listen Dinner for 2016 will be November 21st, organized and planned by Holly and Judi Shank. Our menu will be Beef Stew, (carrots, potato, beef) with Gingerbread and whip cream for dessert. We plan on serving one hundred people plus seconds and take home meals. We need your help to provide a meal for our neighbors. We need people to provide the food and we will need six volunteers to help in the kitchen. The signup sheet is posted and await you name to help us prepare food for 100+ guests. If you have questions, please ask Judi Shank or Holly Hall. Thank you for helping to feed our neighbors.
December 17 – Solstice Retreat - 10am-7pm in Parish House. Offered by the Knit and Purl Fellowship as an opportunity to gather together and finish up those last-minute Christmas gifts. Bring your craft projects, or not, for a day, or part of a day) of fellowship and good food (serve soups, vegetables and dip, ice cream sundaes, tea and coffee and more). Weston Priory Services - Anyone is welcome to services at Weston Priory. Please check Weston Priory webpage for service schedules and retreat schedule. You are welcome to join Holly for a Friday evening or Saturday morning service once or twice a month.
Compassionate Communication- (also called Non-Violent Communication (NVC))- I attended an NVC workshop in White River Junction Saturday and Sunday afternoon with eleven other people from the Upper Valley. I found the experience very enlightening and would like to share some information about the workshop from the booklet we were given. "NVC is the language of our intention to connect with humanness and aliveness in ourselves and in others. This quality of connection awakens compassion and the desire to contribute to one another's well-being; honest expression of our feelings and needs without blame or judgement". This may have been heard before but worth sharing again. NVC includes much more information which I will share another time. There will be another NVC class taught in January and again in the spring of 2017 in White River Junction. Thanks, Holly

- Laying on of Hands – On the first Sunday of every month those wishing to receive laying on our hands are invited to gather at the Baptismal Font (just as you entered the church) immediately after you have received communion.
